Description

The NAGCO N10-103-06 Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Detector Tubes provide direct-reading measurement of hydrogen sulfide using a manual gas sampling pump. The standard measurement range is 1–7 ppm H2S using a half pump stroke for a 50 mL sample volume and a sample time of approximately 1 minute.

For lower-level measurements, the N10-103-06 can also measure 0.5–3.5 ppm using one pump stroke or 0.25–1.75 ppm using two pump strokes with the appropriate correction factor.

Key Features

  • Designed for hydrogen sulfide (H2S) measurement
  • Standard measurement range: 1–7 ppm
  • Extended measurement ranges: 0.5–3.5 ppm and 0.25–1.75 ppm
  • Direct-reading colorimetric detector tube
  • Standard measurement uses 0.5 pump stroke / 50 mL sample volume
  • Approximately 1-minute sample time at standard range
  • Pale orange to pink color change
  • Precision: ≤ ±12% Relative Standard Deviation
  • No stated temperature effect from 0–40°C (32–104°F)
  • No electrical power required

Humidity Requirement

Important: NAGCO specifies that the N10-103-06 tubes must be used at less than 5% relative humidity (RH). The reading drops sharply above 5% RH. This humidity limitation should be considered when determining whether this tube is appropriate for the intended application.

Cross-Sensitivity & Interferences

NAGCO documents cross-sensitivity testing with methyl mercaptan, butyl mercaptan, ammonia, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon disulfide, carbon monoxide, hexane, isobutylene and toluene. Methyl mercaptan and butyl mercaptan can produce apparent readings under the specified test conditions. Isobutylene may reduce the response when mixed with H2S. NAGCO also notes that at 2,000 ppm sulfur dioxide, an orange color may form over the entire tube, but the pink H2S reading is unaffected in mixtures. HCl and other acids and bases are listed as other possible interferences. Refer to the NAGCO datasheet for complete cross-sensitivity information and test conditions.

Pump Information

NAGCO recommends using NAGCO detector tubes with NAGCO sampling pumps. CPS Calibrations can assist customers transitioning from another detector tube system with selecting the appropriate NAGCO tube and sampling equipment for their application.

Important: Detector tube readings may be affected by interfering compounds, humidity and application conditions. Always follow the NAGCO datasheet and pump operating instructions for the specific measurement being performed. Pay particular attention to the less-than-5% RH requirement for this tube.
