Description

The NAGCO N10-103-20 Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Detector Tubes provide direct-reading measurement of hydrogen sulfide using a manual gas sampling pump. The standard measurement range is 50–800 ppm H2S using one 100 mL pump stroke with a sample time of approximately 2 minutes.

For applications requiring measurements outside the standard range, the N10-103-20 can also measure 25–400 ppm using two pump strokes or 100–1,600 ppm using a half pump stroke with the appropriate correction factor.

Key Features

  • Designed for hydrogen sulfide (H2S) measurement
  • Standard measurement range: 50–800 ppm
  • Extended measurement ranges: 25–400 ppm and 100–1,600 ppm
  • Direct-reading colorimetric detector tube
  • Standard measurement uses 1 pump stroke / 100 mL sample volume
  • Approximately 2-minute sample time at standard range
  • Precision: ≤ ±10% Relative Standard Deviation
  • White to dark brown color change
  • 3-year storage life under specified storage conditions
  • No electrical power required

Measurement Ranges

  • 25–400 ppm: 2 pump strokes / 200 mL / 2 × 2 minute sample time / correction factor 0.5
  • 50–800 ppm: 1 pump stroke / 100 mL / 2 minute sample time / correction factor 1.0
  • 100–1,600 ppm: 0.5 pump stroke / 50 mL / 1.5 minute sample time / correction factor 2.0

Humidity & Temperature Correction

At 80% relative humidity, NAGCO states that the indicated reading is reduced by approximately 10% compared with dry air. Temperature correction factors should also be applied as specified below.

  • 0°C (32°F): Correction factor 1.0
  • 10°C (50°F): Correction factor 1.0
  • 25°C (77°F): Correction factor 1.0
  • 40°C (104°F): Correction factor 1.2

Cross-Sensitivity & Interferences

NAGCO documents cross-sensitivity testing with carbon monoxide, methane, ammonia, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon disulfide, methyl mercaptan, diethyl sulfide, hexane, isobutylene and toluene. Nitrogen dioxide may interfere when present in mixtures and may result in a transient brown H2S response. At the specified test concentration of 500 ppm, methyl mercaptan produced an apparent reading of less than 50 ppm. Refer to the NAGCO datasheet for complete cross-sensitivity information and test conditions.

Pump Information

NAGCO recommends using NAGCO detector tubes with NAGCO sampling pumps. CPS Calibrations can assist customers transitioning from another detector tube system with selecting the appropriate NAGCO tube and sampling equipment for their application.

Important: Detector tube readings may be affected by humidity, temperature, interfering compounds and application conditions. Always apply the appropriate correction factors and follow the NAGCO datasheet and pump operating instructions for the specific measurement being performed.
