Description

The NAGCO N10-129-20 Mercaptans Detector Tubes provide direct-reading measurement of mercaptans (RSH) in air using a manual gas sampling pump. The standard measurement range is 5–120 ppmv using one 100 mL pump stroke with a sample time of approximately 2 minutes.

For applications requiring measurements outside the standard range, the N10-129-20 can also be used from 2.5–60 ppmv or from 10–240 ppmv using the extended measurement ranges described in the NAGCO datasheet.

Cross-Sensitivity & Interferences

The N10-129-20 has documented responses to certain compounds including hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, diethyl sulfide, ethyl mercaptan, propyl mercaptan, butyl mercaptan, acetylene and ethylene. Ethyl and propyl mercaptan have a correction factor of 1.0, while butyl mercaptan has a correction factor of 2.0. Diethyl sulfide may interfere and can result in a high response. Up to 500 ppm H2S is trapped in the tube's pretreatment layer. Refer to the NAGCO datasheet for complete cross-sensitivity information and correction requirements.

Pump Information

NAGCO recommends using NAGCO detector tubes with NAGCO sampling pumps. CPS Calibrations can assist customers transitioning from another detector tube system with selecting the appropriate NAGCO tube and sampling equipment for their application.

Important: Detector tube readings may be affected by humidity, temperature and interfering compounds. Always follow the NAGCO datasheet and pump operating instructions for the specific measurement being performed.
