Description
The PureAire 99016 Oxygen Deficiency Monitor is a fixed, diffusion-type oxygen monitor designed for continuous monitoring of ambient oxygen levels in areas where nitrogen, argon, helium, carbon dioxide, and other inert gases may displace oxygen and create an oxygen-deficient atmosphere.
Designed for long-term fixed monitoring, the 99016 uses PureAire's non-depleting zirconium oxide O2 sensor with an expected service life of more than 10 years under normal operating conditions. Unlike traditional disposable oxygen sensors that require periodic replacement, the zirconium oxide sensor is designed for long-term operation with minimal maintenance.
The monitor continuously measures oxygen from 0–25% O2 and provides a local digital display, two user-adjustable alarm relay setpoints, a built-in 90 dB audible alarm, and an active 4–20 mA analog output for connection to building automation systems, PLCs, controllers, remote displays, ventilation systems, and other monitoring equipment.
The PureAire 99016 includes a domestic 24 VDC power supply and wall-mounting brackets, making it well suited for laboratories, cryogenic areas, freezers, pharmaceutical facilities, hospitals, food processing facilities, and other areas where inert gases are stored or used.

Long-Life Sensor Technology
PureAire's zirconium oxide oxygen sensor is designed for more than 10 years of continuous operation under normal conditions. The sensor does not use the consumable chemistry found in conventional disposable electrochemical oxygen cells, helping reduce routine sensor replacement and maintenance requirements.
Alarm & System Integration
The monitor's adjustable alarm relays and active 4–20 mA output allow it to be integrated with external horn/strobes, controllers, remote displays, ventilation systems, building automation systems, PLCs, and other facility safety equipment when properly configured.

The PureAire 99016 is designed for continuous oxygen monitoring in locations where inert gases or cryogenic liquids may displace oxygen and create an oxygen-deficient atmosphere.
Typical Applications
- Laboratories and research facilities
- Cryogenic storage areas
- Liquid nitrogen storage and use areas
- Freezers and cold-storage areas
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Hospitals and medical facilities
- Food processing facilities
- Confined spaces
- Areas using nitrogen (N2)
- Areas using argon (Ar)
- Areas using helium (He)
- Areas using carbon dioxide (CO2)
- Compressed gas storage areas
- Inert gas manifold rooms
Oxygen Deficiency Monitoring
Inert gases can displace oxygen without providing an obvious warning to personnel. The PureAire 99016 continuously measures the oxygen concentration in the monitored area and can provide local alarms and external system signals when oxygen falls below configured alarm levels.
Monitor placement, alarm settings, ventilation requirements and system integration should be determined based on the specific application, gases present, facility conditions and applicable safety requirements.
