Description

The PureAire Universal Hydrogen (H2) Gas Detector is a fixed gas monitoring system designed for continuous hydrogen detection in battery facilities, laboratories, semiconductor manufacturing, hydrogen storage and handling areas, industrial processes, and other locations where hydrogen gas may be present.

This Hydrogen Gas Detector is available in 0–1% Vol and 0–4% Vol detection ranges, allowing the appropriate measurement range to be selected for the application. The PureAire Universal Gas Detector provides continuous, real-time hydrogen monitoring for facility and personnel safety applications.

The monitor features a local digital display, built-in audible alarm, visual alarm indicators, two adjustable alarm relays, and an active 4–20 mA output for integration with PLCs, facility monitoring systems, ventilation equipment, remote alarms, and other safety systems.

With the 0–4% Vol H2 range reaching hydrogen's approximate lower explosive limit (LEL) in air, the detector can be used in applications where hydrogen accumulation needs to be detected before potentially hazardous concentrations develop.

Hydrogen Safety Monitoring

Hydrogen is a light, highly flammable gas that can accumulate near ceilings and other high points when released indoors. Fixed hydrogen monitoring can be used with ventilation, alarm, and facility control systems to provide early warning of increasing hydrogen concentrations.

System Integration

The active 4–20 mA output and adjustable alarm relays allow the detector to interface with PLCs, ventilation equipment, external horns and strobes, remote displays, and other facility safety systems when properly configured.

The PureAire Universal Hydrogen Gas Detector is designed for continuous H2 monitoring in areas where hydrogen is generated, stored, distributed, used, or may accumulate.

Typical Applications

  • Battery rooms and battery charging areas
  • Hydrogen storage and handling areas
  • Hydrogen generation systems
  • Fuel cell facilities
  • Semiconductor manufacturing
  • Laboratories and research facilities
  • Chemical processing facilities
  • Industrial manufacturing
  • Gas cabinets and distribution systems
  • Energy and power facilities
  • Hydrogen process equipment
  • Workplace safety monitoring

Because hydrogen is lighter than air, detector placement should account for potential accumulation near ceilings and other high points. Final detector location, alarm settings, ventilation requirements, and system integration should be based on the specific application and applicable safety requirements.
